It's time to summon the Boom Slayer...

―AmorAltra

Boom Slayer is a 2.1 MediumDemon mega-collaboration hosted and published by AmorAltra. The level is inspired by the Doom series of video games. It was originally teased as a direct sequel to PP, an April Fools' joke level released on 1 April 2020 (it was later confirmed that it is not the sequel to PP). The level was released on 14 March 2021 and rated less than an hour later.

Gameplay[]

  • 0-19% (The Fallen City; created by AmorAltra): The level starts with the player falling into an apocalyptic atmosphere. Everything in the surroundings flames as the player jumps onto broken objects, such as cars, logs, and boxes. Suddenly, the level speeds up as some objects grow eyes, and the player must spam-click through many orbs. Then, the player enters a building with many orbs and an elevator leading the player into the beat drop of the song.
  • 19-27% (The Upper City; created by DavJT): Now, everything has become somewhat satanic, and as the player does simple orb patterns, everything in the surroundings continues to burn. This full part ends with a ship section, with eyes watching the player as they fly through the corridor.
  • 27-35% (Rumbling Towers; created by Bluskys): Resulting from the fire, the surroundings begin to crumble, and as the player enters a UFO portal from the cube game mode, thunder starts to strike. This full part ends with a humongous grabbing the player and pulling them into the following part.
  • 36-40% (Hell; created by kale + KingTony): After being pulled into this part, the player enters Hell. This full part is in the ship game mode and it features many anti-gravity portals throughout. The surroundings present many eyes and organs.
  • 40-46% (The Hell Cave; created by Grax): Unlike the previous part, this part features many game mode changes and orbs at very high speeds. The decoration shows mini-dragons in the background, as well as some heavenly platforms with a hellish twist.
  • 46-50% (The Hell Throne; created by Subwoofer): The speed has since slowed back down, and the gameplay features a mini-cube and a series of jumps and orbs. Halfway through the part, the game mode switches to a robot and the part ends with a ship. The decoration spotlights black icicles falling from the top of the screen, as well as a throne with a huge creature sitting in it.
  • 50-55% (The Hell Halls; created by Knots): Then, the level accelerates back up, and the gameplay is quick spider hits and some cube orb hits at high speed. This part is challenging, as the player must properly time their inputs while the level is at quadruple speed. The surroundings feature stone statues, such as a huge angel and all the platforms the player has to land on.
  • 56-64% (The Lab; created by Jghost): Afterwards, the speed decreases to double speed and the game mode switches to a mini-cube, and the game mode does not change throughout the part. As the name of the part states, this part shows a laboratory that has been infiltrated by the apocalypse.
  • 64-70% (Dark Chamber; created by SpaceDust): Then, the brightness declines, and the player must traverse through some simple cube gameplay. However, once the game mode switches to a double-speed ship, something feels like the level builds up to something extremely climatic.
  • 70-82% (Boss Fight; created by ScorchVX + HHyper): Directly after the build-up, the level accelerates to quadruple-speed, and the main villain (known as Boombar) of this apocalypse has finally appeared and is now trying to destroy the player, and the player must quickly spam-click through a blast from the boss-fight.
  • 82-91% (Boss Fight Pt. 2; created by Hannn): Now, the game mode switches over to a cube, and now everything is flaming more than ever before. The boss' head has since come off and is attempting to destroy the player by violently blowing lasers out of their mouth as the game mode switches constantly.
  • 91-100% (Ending; created by BlowMyPooh, Geogamer12, Matty2003, and Radley): Finally, the boss fight ends with a dramatic cut-scene showing the player defeating the boss with a powerful sword. Then, the name of the level and every creator/playtester of the level shows up on-screen. The level ends with a small helmet-like piece of art.

Story[]

Note: This text was written by Cerberus, and it originates from AmorAltra's description of the verification video.

  • The Fallen City: You've entered a city that is in ruins with strange fleshy-otherworldly creatures infecting everything that they see. As you dodge all the debris trying to keep your life safe you decide to get a better view to see what is happening to the city, so you take an elevator to get a better view.
  • The Upper City: After taking the elevator to the high rises of the city you can see everything is in complete pandemonium. With buildings falling left and right with their support structures being animated into variants of the abominations you had seen just seconds ago. Wanting no part, you make your escape out of the crumbling building.
  • Rumbling Towers: You weave in and out of falling rubble, doing your best to avoid the strange floating creatures trying to bring you to your demise. As you are about to make the jump to safety, a demonic hand appears out of a portal from the skyscraper in front of you, dragging you into the unknown.
  • Hell: Emerging from the portal, fire, and flesh is all you can see for miles. Desperately trying to avoid being grabbed, you dive into a cave that seems to lack any of the flesh that is perusing you.
  • The Hell Cave: Having escaped the flesh, you now see a new threat coming for you, gargoyle-like beasts swarm around you as the ground under you grabs out, trying to tear away your very soul from your body. These are the dammed, those who were not lucky or brave enough to escape the atrocities back in the city.
  • The Hell Throne: Having finally escaped your pursuers, you take a moment to catch your breath as you enter an area of relative calm. The architecture of the area you are running through resembles something of a castle. Having realized where you are and what you might be dealing with, you flee the area as fast as you can, noticing the silhouette of what appears to be a humanoid lurking in the darkness of the throne room.
  • The Hell Halls: You escape from the throne room, doing your best to put distance between you and the shadowy figure you had seen. Whatever it was, it most likely was behind what has happened topside in the city. As you flee reality feels like it starts to break down as magic entities do their best to stop you from reaching the glowing portal at the end of the hall. With the remainder of your strength, you fly into the portal, praying that it takes you away from this purgatory.
  • The Lab: You emerge from the portal back in your normal reality, or so you hope. You do your best to hop back on your feet, putting as much distance between you and the portal you had just escaped. You had been transported to a lab of some sort, whatever work had been done here was now almost meaningless as most of the various test tubes and research papers have been broken, torn apart, and ravaged.
  • Dark Chamber: Having seen that all the doors in the lab had been blocked by rubble, you saw a ventilation shaft that you could use to make your escape. As you climb through the ducts an awful feeling fills your chest: dread, the worst you had ever felt. As you start your escape, you feel as though something had followed you out of the portal, for now, you have no time to worry, you needed to make your escape.
  • Boss Fight + Boss Fight Pt. 2: Your worst fears had come true, you realize that you had been followed by what appears to be the silhouette that you had seen back in the Hell throne. It was him, Boombar, the King of Hell.
  • Ending: It was clear you were outmatched, as you did your best to evade his attacks you noticed he had detached his head to keep his maneuverability up. This was your chance, he was now mobile, but less threatening. With the tides of this fight turning in your favor you do your best to fight back, now dodging his attacks with a purpose: to save both your soul and all of humanity's as well. You continue to close the distance, each one of his missed attacks showing the true emotions in his eyes. No longer were they filled with gluttony and power-hungry rage, but the realization and fear knowing that it is too late for him. You seize an opportunity off his final all-out attack and strike. He attempts to brace for the attack and to counter, but this was the end for Boombar. In one fell swoop of your weapon, his head had been cut clean in two. The sound of his jaw hitting the cold earth was the victory bell of humanity. While many lived were lost, many more were saved because of you, the boom slayer.
