Eric also ran 3 other YouTube channels: EricVanAnime, for anime-related content (now removed and discontinued); EricWilderman, where he posted videos of him playing horror games; and EricVanWildermanToo, where he posted videos of himself playing Super Mario Maker 2, Fall Guys and other games. His hardest Demon is currently Digital Descent, beaten on October 12, 2022.[1]
Eric is currently trying to beat Yatagarasu as his next hardest Demon, on which he has currently achieved a record of 92%.
History[]
EricVanWilderman has had a long history in Geometry Dash. Starting in early 1.9 on December 24, 2014, he started to play Geometry Dash, his first video was completing Stereo Madness, Back on Track and Polargeist with a hot sauce challenge.[2] After this, he started to complete all the main RobTop levels, concluding with Theory of Everything 2 on February 5, 2015.[3] After completing v2's of the title levels by Neptune, he started to play easier Demons such as Problematic. As his following grew, he attempted more difficult Demons such as Toxin Lab II and The Robotic Rush, and his popularity as a Geometry Dash player rose as well.
On April 11, 2017, he completed Old Cataclysm, becoming the 1st non-GD-oriented YouTuber to have beaten an Extreme Demon. Only a month later he then completed New Cataclysm and was on the Top 50 Demonlist.[4] In September 2017, he completed ICE Carbon Diablo X. Players like Riot, AeonAir and TrusTa started to take notice of Eric's rapid rise in fame and Geometry Dash gameplay, so they collaborated with him in videos to welcome him into the community.
In 2018, he started a series called The Twelve Demons of Christmas and played 12 Demons every day. He beat his 4th Extreme Demon, Quest For Perfection, on December 26, 2018. In the Twelve Demons of Christmas 2019, he beat his 5th Extreme Demon (which was rated as the aforementioned difficulty at that time but is now an Insane Demon), Temple of Destiny.
In 2020, he beat 3 new hardest Demons. The 1st one was HyperSonic, the 2nd one was AcropoliX, and for the 3rd one, he beat Bloodbath on a copyable version because he crashed due to a 240Hz bug on the original. On October 9, 2020, he beat aftermath, thereby completing the Apocalyptic Trilogy.
In the Twelve Demons of Christmas 2020, he beat his next Extreme Demon, The Lost Existence, on the first day of Christmas. In the same series, he beat some other Extremes as well, such as Acu and Red World Rebirth, the latter being an Extreme Demon that he tried to beat around a year ago but dropped. This put EVW at a total of 10 Extreme Demons completed by the end of 2020.
For 2021, he made a goal to beat at least one or more Extreme Demon(s) per month, and for January, he beat NecropoliX, which took him 3,411 attempts. On January 29, 2021, he began practicing Phobos, which he beat as his new hardest on March 25, 2021. He also started practicing Down Bass, which he beat on April 22, 2021. On May 31, 2021, he started practicing Artificial Ascent for his new hardest Demon. He beat the level on August 12, 2021. On September 2, 2021, he started practicing Heartbeat, which he beat ten days later on September 12, 2021.
In the Twelve Demons of Christmas 2021, he beat the Extreme Demons Falling Up, Misty Mountains, Dark Odyssey and The Ultimate Phase.
On September 25, 2021, he announced that his next Extreme Demon would be Sakupen Hell, which he beat on March 26, 2022.
He announced his next hardest Extreme Demon would be Digital Descent on May 4, 2022. He beat it on October 12, 2022.
In the Twelve Demons of Christmas 2022, he beat the Extreme Demon Reanimate.
He beat Black Blizzard on February 3, 2023, marking his third hardest Demon.
On August 13, 2023, he won the Geometry Dash 10-Year Anniversary award for Best YouTuber.
Equipment[]
EricVanWilderman used a PS4 Controller until June 3, 2018,[5] and beat his first three Extreme Demons using the controller. He switched to a mouse on June 3, 2018. He broke his mouse (Logitech G502) on August 28, 2020, while trying to complete Blast Processing Full by LuneraGD,[6] and posted on YouTube on September 1, 2020, that he bought a Basilisk V2, following AeonAir's advice on Twitter (X).
Status[]
EricVanWilderman is currently active and shows no signs of retiring anytime soon.
Icons[]
He uses the 800-star cube as his cube, the 75-secret coin ship, the 1-user coin wave and the 120-secret coin UFO, and the rest of his icons are custom from the community shop.
Colours[]
EricVanWilderman did not always use the red and white icon colours he is known for. He used green and blue from Stereo Madness to Base After Base. He briefly used red and green on Cant Let Go but quickly switched to red and yellow soon after. He used red and yellow from Jumper to xStep and then switched colours again. It seemed like he could not make up his mind about which colours to use. He used blue and white for Clutterfunk and purple and pink for Theory of Everything and Electroman Adventures. He used blue and gray for Hexagon Force and Blast Processing and then gray and white for Electrodynamix. For Clubstep, he used orange and blue, and for Theory of Everything 2 and Chicken Techno, he used red and green again. From stereo madness v2 to Cycles v2 R, he used black and white but switched once more. For Xstep v2, he used red and blue and then green and yellow for Clutterfunk v2. He eventually settled on black and green and used it from Theory of every v2 to Laser Room. He finally chose the famous red and white on June 22, 2015, when he attempted Problematic. On March 13, 2019, he switched to blue and white when he got 100 Ice Shards, but he has returned to his red and white colour scheme and still uses it today. For his Red World Rebirth completion, he changed his colours to red and green because it fit the Christmas theme, but he switched back after its video release on Christmas of 2020.
He briefly used white along with reddish pink as his icon colours but is currently using his original colours.
