Penombre is a 2.1 Extreme Demon created by ZephiroX and verified by MrSpaghetti. The parts were inspired by many TheDevon levels. It is currently on the Legacy List of the Geometry Dash Demonlist and GD Mobile List.

Gameplay

• 0-29%: The start of the level has a ship section, interrupted by two cube segments. There are lots of timings, mainly related to areas. There is a small break, in the background appears the inscription "il ya toujours un moyen de fuir la panombre" (There is always a way to avoid darkness), which then follows even more complex cube and ship sections, complicated by dullness and constant movement of obstacles, which form narrow spaces.
• 30-55%: A part which focuses on memory. First are a cube and a ship segment with a large number of tight spaces, false orbs, and fake blocks. Then there is a UFO segment with several gravity interruptions, after which memorization steps follow again - a rather short cube and ball section.
• 56-82%: The most difficult part of the level, which consists of two high-speed parts with duals. First, there is a fast wave, then it becomes dual, and on the way, there is a large amount of gravity portals. What is unusual is that at one moment you will have to slide on the blocks here. Long transitions are interrupted by a ball section. It also becomes dual, forming the currently unreleased swing copter, where you have to constantly click, to smoothly fly through the obstacles, often representing inclined spikes.
• 83-100%: The previously mentioned part is interrupted by two cube sections. A calm ending, similar to the gameplay from the beginning of the level, still containing timings (there are, however, much less) and dim decoration. In the design. there are only two periodically changing colors - purple and blue. Having passed the last cube with frequent speed changes, the author's nickname will appear.

• The level is free to copy.
• The level contains 62,034 objects.
• The level is 1 minute and 5 seconds in length.
• It was initially placed at #100 on the Geometry Dash Demonlist on July 5, 2019, above Audio Extraction (#101) and below PanaSonic (#99).
  • Soon after, it was moved to #141, above Grimoire Heart (#142) and below 8o X (#140).
  • This addition knocked Photovoltaic into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
• Penombre means "darkness" in French.
• On the transitional part of the cube (29-30%), the inscription "Every lesson is a gift" can be seen. This phrase is a quote from Taliyah (whose art can be seen in the background) - a character from the game League of Legends.
  • According to the author, in Penombre, this inscription also means that each level is a gift.
• ZephiroX was inspired by TheDevon which is why many parts of the level look similar to parts of TheDevon's levels.
• The level has a harder sequel named Macabre which was also verified by MrSpaghetti on July 31, 2019.
• The placement of Ouroboros on August 1, 2019, knocked Penombre into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
  • However, on August 16, 2019, Penombre was moved back into the Extended List as a result of TeaM Z getting modified to a free demon.
    • Though, one day later, TeaM Z would be reverted back to its original state, causing Penombre to be knocked back into the Legacy List.
