Sea (planckLength in-game, SEA on YouTube, formerly known as Sea1997) was a popular British YouTuber and former Geometry Dash player, known for his content surrounding Geometry Dash's lore and community. His videos received acclaim for their relative professionalism and depth, with some of the most successful series on his channel being The Legends Series, Maps from Hell Series and GD Theories, but criticism for his sometimes unprofessional and pessimistic attitude, especially towards other players (highlighted by his diss track about Cyrillic and participation in one about ToshDeluxe) and the decline in the quality of his Geometry Dash-related content. While not a frequent player or level creator, Sea kept in touch with the community thanks to his numerous videos and his own Geometry Dash 'news show' called G-News.
Aside from Geometry Dash, Sea also produces videos on topics such as outer space and conspiracies, most recently endeavouring to push more videos unrelated to Geometry Dash.
On 20 March 2019, Sea announced that he would quit Geometry Dash and content creation surrounding it,[1] and would begin to un-list existing videos about the game and its community. Among reasons cited for this decision, Sea noted that his previously mentioned content on outer space was much more rewarding personally and on the platform, and he had gained perspective by temporarily shutting himself from the mishaps of the Geometry Dash community. However, he will still occasionally comment on Geometry Dash videos from time to time, such as Riot's completion of Athanatos.
Sea's playlist containing his unlisted videos about Geometry Dash has 51 of the 221 videos privatised, most caused by YouTube's 2021 unlisted videos purge, where any unlisted video uploaded before 2017 would automatically become privatised. There is currently only one surviving video before 2017, the 'Cyclic' video of the Legends Series. Many videos were lost, with either no archive on The Wayback Machine or an archive with the actual video missing.
Conflicts[]
- 3xotiC Situation: An unknown player attempted and successfully convinced Fiire and Sylz that he is the former Top 1 player, 3xotiC, by impersonating him. He was quickly exposed and confessed a few weeks later, which caused Sea to make a video about this situation.[2]
- God Eater Videos: Around April/May 2017, knobbelboy released his second preview of God Eater. It quickly attracted 200,000 views but also prompted large footage-stealing controversy, causing tensions between Sea and Nexus.[3]
- Sea vs Pavlukivan: In July 2017, Sea exposed Pavlukivan for hacking, low-quality content, level stealing and doxxing RobTop. He dragged out his response for over 11 months, with seven videos on the matter. Pavlukivan immediately becomes a hate figure in the community, and the community questioned Sea's handling of the situation as well.[3]
- Sea vs Cyrillic: In August 2017, Cyrillic, known for making the level Silent Circles, made a face reveal, resulting in Sea making a joke about him looking like North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Cyrillic then made five videos about this drama, making Sea want a conversation with him. They talked it out, and eventually, they made up. Then, about a week later, Cyrillic made another video about Sea that pushed him to the limit to talk about this guy in a 20-minute video titled 'The Truth About Cyrillic', where he talked about all the bad stuff Cyrillic did.[4] Cyrillic followed up on this video by saying that Sea was lying about everything he said in this video. The video was photoshopped, and Sea got so mad at Cyrillic that he had to make an entire diss track about him titled Wannabe.[5]
- Diss Track Period: A trend of sending for Geometry Dash YouTubers, including himself, emerged. StarXD and Amn3sia weighed in with their diss tracks against himself and a few others here and there.
- Sea vs WHErwin: A while after the Sea vs Pavlukivan drama ended, WHErwin made a video trying to defend Pavlukivan and claimed that Sea misinterpreted facts. It led to Sea making a response video, saying that most of WHErwin's arguments were arbitrary and clearing up what was factual and what was not.[6]
