Trick (TrickGMD in-game) was a skilled French/American player in Geometry Dash. He rose to fame by verifying the Top 2 Extreme Demon Firework in mid-2021, following a long lineage of verifiers. He was widely considered to be one of the game's best players, becoming the first victor of top Extreme Demons such as Abyss of Darkness and the Top 1 level Tidal Wave. He held the #1 spot on the Demonlist Stats Viewer from June to September 2024 and has been competing with Zoink for the top spot since being dethroned.

As of late 2024, Trick had been amidst verifying the Top 1-difficulty level Amethyst, achieving a best of 61%, before announcing his departure from the game and passing the level to wPopoff on February 12, 2025.

History

Trick created his YouTube channel during the 2.0 update on December 26, 2015, but did not upload any videos until four years later. He uploaded his first video on January 5, 2020, titled "LordVaderCraft being LordVaderCraft for 50 seconds." Later, he would start uploading more videos, all being Geometry Dash-related.

Trick's first major achievement was completing the Extreme Demon Cataclysm on October 14, 2020. It was the seventh video uploaded onto his channel. On October 15, 2020, he re-beat Cataclysm on a stream and Bloodbath for the eighth time. He then beat some other Extreme Demons, such as Down Bass, Allegiance, Glide and Gunslinga Corridor, as well as making progress on Sonic Wave and Digital Descent.

On December 8, 2020, he beat his new hardest Demon, Auditory Breaker, which took him 1,591 attempts. On December 19, Trick made progress on Firework with a run of 19-37% (although he was not the level's official verifier yet), and then he got 24% and 32% two days later.

Starting in 2021, he achieved a record of 95% on Bloodlust, and on January 6, he beat Digital Descent, marking his new hardest Demon; he later decided to re-beat it. On January 12, he beat Sakupen Hell, and the next day, he beat Asmodeus. Meanwhile, Trick was making progress on Cognition with 52-100%, 30%, 36-92%, and a record of 47% on January 15, 2021.

Sometime in early February 2021, he got a record of 38% and 41% on Firework, then made further progress with runs of 24-60% and 64-96%. Soon after, he got 53% on Wasureta in under six hours, then 66%, and eventually a fail of 95% on February 17, 2021.

On March 3, 2021, he beat Carcano and simultaneously achieved 200 List Points on the Pointercrate Individual Stats Viewer.

Trick's popularity rose when he was announced as the new set verifier for Firework. When Trick became an official verifier, he had a copy of the level named "Trick Firework Fix 3," on which he achieved 43%. He made further progress with runs such as 35-64%. Later, he got 53% on April 17, 2021. On April 26, 2021, after three deaths on the level's last input, he beat Wasureta, making it his new hardest Demon. The next day, on April 27, 2021, he showcased his final version of Firework. After the showcase, he achieved 60% on the level on May 4, 2021.

A month later, Trick would attempt to beat Sonic Wave Infinity. On June 4, 2021, he got 42% and later achieved a run of 54-100% on June 9, 2021. On June 14, 2021, he got 69% on Firework, surpassing Kurumi's world record, and made further progress with 49-100% and 33-100% and would soon get 81% on June 28, 2021. After super-buffing the level, he achieved 88% on July 1, 2021. The same month, on July 11, 2021, he became the first victor of Kuzureta.

On August 11, 2021, he got 91% on his super-buffed version of Firework, and then on September 22, he achieved a run of 24-100% on his super-buffed version. Following this, he would slightly nerf the level. After 234,000 attempts, he verified the level on October 29, 2021.

Trick finally beat Acheron on February 25, 2023, after failing at 98%, making it his hardest completion at the time.

On March 12, 2023, he verified KOCMOC. The level later had a decoration update with slightly altered gameplay that was verified by Zoink, and it was placed at #10 on the Demonlist on June 16, 2023.

On March 7, 2024, 180 days after Tidal Wave was verified and 18 days after its rating, Trick became the first victor of the level after nearly 70,000 attempts.

On June 11, 2024, Trick dethroned Zoink from the top of the Demonlist Stats Viewer after a 17-month reign. Trick revealed he secretly completed list levels over three months and submitted them all at once to gain enough points to take the lead. However, after dethroning Zoink from the top spot on the Stats Viewer, his victory was briefly overshadowed when the Demonlist team discovered that his Frost Spirit record was accidentally completed on an outdated version of the level. As a result, his record was revoked, and he lost Demonlist points, allowing Zoink to reclaim the top spot. Fortunately for Trick, he was able to quickly beat the newer version of the level not long after, reinstating his record and reclaiming his position at the top.

Three months later, on September 11, Zoink briefly overtook Trick, but Trick quickly regained the lead. Zoink then reclaimed the top spot on September 14 where he currently remains.

On February 12, 2025, Trick has made a video, in which he stated, that he officially quits from playing the game due to partial burnout and the need to try new, different things, that are unrelated to Geometry Dash, such as expanding his passion in music, and exploring his own self. Trick said, that he will stay in touch with the game and keep posting on his YouTube channel, until he figures out which way exactly he wants too choose. He also added, that after dropping the level, Amethyst would be verified by wPopoff.

Controversies

• Lying about Tartarus attempts: On December 13, 2021, Trick uploaded a completion of Tartarus to his YouTube channel. This accomplishment was no surprise as Trick is a highly skilled player to most community members. However, his attempt count of merely 11,358 raised suspicions, as it had taken him over 234,000 attempts to beat Firework, a level of similar difficulty, and the attempt record, held by Luqualizer, was still 17,000 attempts. After dice88 and a few others called him out on X, he eventually confessed to lying about his attempt count. His response to the situation read: "when I do something cool and exaggerate, my 'dumba** self' decides it is the right idea." He still did beat Tartarus legitimately, but his actual attempt count was around 26,000. The drama died down shortly after.
• Taking 60Hz bugfix key during Abyss of Darkness completion: After beating Abyss of Darkness on August 13, 2022, people took notice after watching the completion video that Trick collected a 60Hz bugfix key that, on higher refresh rates, nerfs the ball timing at the beginning of MegaSkill's part. (Trick completed the level using 360FPS). Due to Trick not collecting the key for its intended purpose, some people believe this makes his completion of the level illegitimate.

It has been requested that this section be rewritten.

• The Apocalyptic Trilogy drama: After becoming the verifier of the upcoming Extreme Demon level, The Apocalyptic Trilogy, Trick decided to leak the level to his friend, then later on to fnm04 who showcased the supposedly "Top 1" version of the level on July 3, 2024. In the comments section, Trick claims to have nerfed the level to increase its quality as forcing outdated gameplay to be Top 1-difficulty would not work while also claiming that APTeam had ditched the project after Zimnyte's lack of motivation which became the reason for his inactivity in verifying the level. However on July 6, 2024, Zimnyte refuted all of these claims in a private message with Wavix by stating that the "Top 1" version of the showcase was made by him and someone else unrelated to APTeam. He also stated that Trick became increasingly inactive at verifying the level for several months despite hyping it on his social media after being insistent on wanting the level to be Top 1 to the point that he complained about its sheer difficulty and in spite of the numerous playtesters who rebalanced the level to his liking. Then lastly, he stated that he was using fnm04 to spread a false narrative against APTeam, with Trick claiming that he wanted the level to be nerfed to increase its quality, only to be refuted that he wanted to push the level to be Top 1 despite being nerfed for over three weeks. Zimnyte also stated that Endy and others have been responsible with the project lately as Zimnyte has been struggling with severe depression which hinders him from managing the level. As a result of the controversy, Trick was removed from the verification and has since been replaced by Polterghast, who has nerfed the level to around Tartarus difficulty.

• He speaks French.
• At the time, his verification of Firework held the record for the most attempts spent on successfully verifying a level, totaling around 234,000 attempts. However, this record has since been surpassed by Demishio, who verified Kyouki, a level he also built solo, after 501,997 attempts.
• He has beaten Firework 11 times.
• He had a copy of "Trick Firework Fix 3," but it was later deleted from the servers.
• Trick's Top 2 Demon (Firework) only had the #1 spot on the Demonlist for 18 seconds due to the combined rating with Slaughterhouse and arcturus on October 29, 2021.
  • Because of this, Firework currently holds the record for the shortest time spent at the #1 spot on the Demonlist.
    • Over a year and a half after this, spaceuk, who was thought to have verified Slaughterhouse on October 24, 2021, was exposed for hacking many of his Geometry Dash achievements, including his Slaughterhouse verification. If spaceuk had not hacked the level in the first place, then Firework would have been at the #1 spot for much longer, especially considering Slaughterhouse was planned to be nerfed by other verifiers before spaceuk hacked the level.
